ECSTATIC DANCE - SATURDAY 4/20 @ 3pm

Join us for this immersion into healing movement. Instead of a “dance class,” ecstatic dance is an active and creative practice of free-form dance that invites you to drop into the body as it rides a wave of curated music. We will begin the session with a short discussion: to set expectations that will help to create a safe space for all dancers to be their authentic selves, to freely dance like no one is watching. We will then move through a 60 minute playlist that will begin and end in stillness. As the music slowly begins, let your body’s intuition guide you as you stretch, breathe, meditate, and explore. Rise as the music rises, as it builds towards a liberating peak. Discover music and movement as medicine: an opportunity to feel, to surrender, to release, to create space, to play, to awaken, to transcend.

There is no wrong way to dance. Free your body, free your mind. Ecstatic dance is an energetic practice that helps us move emotions, release blockages, and have glimpses of an ecstatic state where we can connect with our true nature. Come prepared to move – however vigorously or calmy as your body guides. The dance can be a hearty workout or a calming mediation. The dance can be personal or social. The dance can be healing, rejuvenating, emotional, or celebratory. It is whatever you make it.

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, bring a yoga mat for warm up and to begin/end the session on, and a water bottle to rehydrate!

Founded in the late 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui, this ancient practice can be used to heal oneself, others, animals, plants, and even the Earth. Many people seek Reiki for pain relief, immune system support, and to restore energetic balance. It has proven effective in addressing various illnesses and works in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques by accelerating the body’s natural healing abilities.

In Usui Reiki Level 1 training, you will be introduced to the history and main principles of Reiki. You will learn the basic hand positions for treatment and have the opportunity to practice using Reiki on yourself and others during the training. 

This training is open to anyone interested in learning more about Reiki energy healing. Upon completion of training, you’ll have the practical tools for self-healing and for helping others on their healing path.

Students will learn about the 7 chakra and how to balance them - followed by a chakra balancing yoga flow.

Students will take a dosha quiz to learn about their constitution while moving in a way that is good for their elemental make up.
