Alex Cuervo

"discover something different in oneself."

Alex Cuervo has been teaching Bikram yoga since 2011 and vinyasa yoga since 2016.
She has competed in USA Yoga’s Asana Championship several times and won 2nd place for New York state in 2017.

Born and raised across the Hudson in NJ, Alex received her bachelor’s degree in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and went on to draw for magazine publications and private commissions. Another past life was a short stint as a swing dancer performing alongside notables like Wynton Marsalis, Michael Bublé and Natalie Merchant.

The goal in Alex’s yoga classes and in her personal practice is to discover something different in oneself whether it be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. All of the aspects of yoga are a discipline, hatha yoga (physical postures) included. It is through discipline and commitment that the student/practitioner will find new sources of strength within themselves and create lasting positive changes in their lives.

SHAPE SHIFTING 90
with Alex Cuervo
1 hour and 30 minutes
ShapeShifting is a transformational movement series created by longtime Bikram Yoga practitioner Mary Jarvis, originally developed in the 1990s as a healing method after a serious spinal injury. Designed to enhance any yoga or fitness routine, the practice follows a specific sequence of postures and body skills that can be done by anyone. It helps strengthen the spine and core, improve posture, balance, and stamina, and boost total-body awareness and control. More than just a physical workout, ShapeShifting is a full-body reset that transforms how you move, feel, and show up in your life.

CLASSIC HOT 60
with Alex Cuervo
1 hour
The traditional 90-minute hot yoga practice, known as "CLassic 26+2," has been transformed into a dynamic and demanding 1-hour sequence. In this class, we maintain the essence of the original by repeating most poses twice, with a few exceptions. Additionally, some poses are seamlessly integrated to maximize the efficiency of your practice. This condensed format is suitable for all students, especially those with busy schedules. You will definitely work up a sweat in our heated environment.

84 ADVANCED
with Alex Cuervo
2 hours
The sequence unfolds with grace and purpose, incorporating the rejuvenating Salutation to the Sun and the contemplative Salutation to the Moon. These sequences serve as a gateway to the Awkward Pose series, offering a unique blend of strength and balance. Furthermore, you'll encounter a variety of standing poses, each demanding its own set of skills and strengths. Following these standing poses, you'll transition to supine and prone yoga postures, meticulously curated to both extend and compress the spine, promoting flexibility and resilience.
